Making my Community More Livable Workshop
Is your group wondering what the term "livable community" means and ways its members can align their lifestyles with their values? VPS can provide some explanation and direction on how to travel using alternative transportation as well as buy and eat locally. Attendees will gain background knowledge, links to community resources, ways to take action and understanding through group exercises.
This workshop has three components:
- Part 1. Building relationship with your food through community supported agriculture (CSAs), farmers markets, natural foods co-ops and u-picks. Group exercise: (will be determined soon)
- Part 2. Investing in your regional economy through community banks, local businesses and consumer power. Group exercise: Let's define a local, independent business
- Part 3. Transitioning away from single car driving through bicycling, walking, transit, trains and carpooling. Group exercise: Let's figure out how to travel between two points using alternative transportation
